What is Presto Hacks?

Presto Hacks is a 3 day virtual event (specifically, a hackathon) where teams of 1-4 participants are given 40 hours to code a web or mobile application under the theme of music technology. After the 40 hour period, the projects will be judged based on a set criteria, and the group with the best project in each category will receive a prize.

When/Where:

The event will be held over Discord and Zoom on December 10-12th, 2021. More details concerning schedule, operations, and safety will be posted closer to the event on the website. With any questions about these details, contact info@prestohacks.tech.

Eligibility

Anyone aged 13-22!

Our Mission:

Presto Hacks has 3 primary goals:

  1. To discover new ways people can engage with and experience music through programming and technology.
  2. To improve access to music education, especially in underserved communities.
  3. To connect the worlds of music and technology.

FAQ

No! We will have workshops to teach beginners how to build a basic website (in HTML). We will also have a prize category for the best beginner project!

No, hackers can choose their level of involvement. You can also choose to only attend workshops. If you are not available for a portion of the event, you will just communicate that to your team members.

You will get to meet people around the world and come up with innovative ideas that combine music and technology! Our coding workshops will also let you improve your coding skills and learn more about the world of technology! All participants will receive swag, and winners will receive prizes!

No - you are still eligible for swag even if you only attend the workshops and game sessions.

No! Hackers can work by themselves or with anywhere between 1 and 3 other hackers.

Please notify a Presto Hacks organizer in the Discord so we can resolve the issue. You will be able to identify the organizers by the color of our usernames in the Discord.
